 This extremely powerful gelding is bred to perform dressage at the highest levels. His movement and power match his world class pedigree. Both sire Jazz (#5) and damsire Michellino (#6) are among the Top 6 WBFSH Dressage sires in the world! Dam is a graded, imported Dansk Varmblod mare.This colt is a half brother to 2 licensed stallions Good as Gold and Heroic Times and a FEI 4* event horse Dutch Times. The Dam of this special horse(See Alino Queen in the SPORT AND BREEDING ISSUE from October 2007 and RIDEHESTEN 02/2008 issue in Denmark about this mare and her famous family) is by Horse of the Year in Denmark 2006, MICHELLINO. On the 2016 WBFSH rankings, Jazz is in 5th place with his most successful competitor, Vancouver K, ridden by Ireland’s Judy Reynolds.

Jazz once again heads the 2016/17 list of KWPN dressage stallions with a reliability of over 90%, with a dressage breeding value of 191 (conformation – 109, free movement – 113, free jumping 97. He has sired 2918 progeny over 4 years, for 1060 competitors – 36.32%. He has a negative OCD value – 97. On the 2018 German FN rankings for sires of horses in open competition, two horses are tied on 164 – Don Schufro (Donnerhall / Pik Bube I, 93%) and Jazz (Cocktail / Ulster, 87%).  Jazz is richly represented by the gelding, Vancouver K (Ferro) with Ireland’s Judy Reynolds.

In October 2018, the KWPN released an evaluation of the most successful KWPN stallions ‘in the sport’, and not surprisingly, Jazz topped the list with 666 offspring competing at Z1 level or higher. The next most successful was Gribaldi with 477 followed by Flemmingh with 378. Jazz was also the most successful sire of progeny competing at Grand Prix level with 4.2% or 131 GP representatives. The next best ratio went to Contango with 24 offspring (3.4%). However when the number of progeny were taken into account, the most successful sire of Z1 level progeny was Sir Sinclair (Lord Sinclair / Flemmingh) with 21.9% of his offspring, followed by Jazz’s sire, Cocktail (Purioso / Le Val Blanc), with Jazz in equal 3rd place with a ratio of 21.2%.

Sire Jazz and Dam Alino Queen



2010 is the third consecutive year that Jazz keur pref has led the world dressage sires rankings. He continues to sire phenomenal performance horses, multiple approved stallions and a wealth of high-producing broodmares for many studbooks. Becoming 2006 KWPN Horse of the Year was only the beginning of the acolades for this well  established stallion.  In addition to winning the KWPN HOY award Broere Jazz has also been awarded Kuer Preferent status for his own Grand Prix performances and the successes of his progeny. Broere Jazz is sired by the legendary dressage stallion Olympic Cocktail.  Olympic Cocktail was himself KWPN HOY in 1995 and ridden by the world champion Anky Van Grusven.  In 2001 Tineke Bartels debuted Broere Jazz at Grand Prix. That year they won the “Grand Prix World Cup in Amsterdam” with a score of 74.65%.  In 2002 at “Zwollse Paardendagen” he achieved third place in the category of “Best Stallion”.  In addition Broere Jazz was Indoor Champion at NBVR and competed in the 2002 Olympic Games in Jerez, Spain.  Broere Jazz strongly passes on his qualities to his offspring.  This is demonstrated by their results in the show ring and at sporting events.  His oldest progeny are now competing at Prix St. George level.  He has 6 licensed sons “Broere Norway, Olivi, Riant,Tango, Johnson, and Jazz Time”.  Some of the many achievements of his offspring are listed below:

In 2000 and 2001 Broere Jazz was the sire with the largest number of offspring competing in the finals at the PAVO Cup, Paster (damsire Ariban), Riant (damsire Julio Mariner), Royal Dancer (damsire Fruhling) Pylotti (damsire Samber).  The 2001 champion Paster with Madeleine Vrees was described by the ‘Horse Press’ as follows: “Loosness, tact, space, self carriage, silhouette and elevation are present in all three of his basic gaits.” At the pre-selections for the 2002/2003 stallion show in s’Hertogenbosch  four Jazz sons were sent through to the second selection phase.

In 2008, 2009 and 2010 Jazz was the World Breeding Federation of Sport Horses' Leading Dressage Sire of the World.
