Michellino
comes from a successful dressage lineage, his sire Michelangelo and
grandsire Ulft. Michellino has been one of the most used
breeding stallions of the Danish Warmblood book due to his progeny which
possess very expressive and supple gaits, a very effective 'motor' and
elegant and noble exteriors.

Michelangelo's career at stud has had quite a few outstanding
moments.
Celebrated sons were presented at approvals in Germany, The
Netherlands
and Denmark.
Out of his first foal crop, the champion stallion Kennedy and
the
premium stallion Guy Laroche resulted. Michelangelo's son
Michelino,
bred in the Netherlands, is a successful sire in Denmark. In
1998, two
Michelangelo-sons were approved in Germany: the reserve champion
Hirtenruf and Kensington, full brother to Kennedy. Monteverdi,
champion
stallion in 1998 is also a son of Michelangelo's dam Miami.
Also in 1998, Michelangelo produced the champion mare at the
central
inspections in The Netherlands. His daughter Schneeflocke, the
highest
priced auction mare in Neumünster, placed 4th in her age-group
at the
National Mare Show (all breeds) in Neustadt-Dosse, Germany. In
1999
the Michelangelo-son Hölderlin was approved and in 2000, his
son
Summertime was awarded a premium title at approval. Michelangelo
is
also the dam's sire of the Trakehner Grand Champion mare
Lantana.
In 2001 the Oldenburg premium stallion Mon Dieux by Michelangelo
was
approved.
His pedigree stands for excellence, solid and prepotent traits.
His sire,
the thoroughbred Pasteur xx, produced a number of outstanding
dressage
horses and furthermore, is the Sire of the Century Stallion,
Mahagoni.
Michelangelo's dam is the highly decorated premium, state
premium and
elite mare Miami by Matador.
Michelangelo's main characteristics include a certain
extravagance and
superiority. Trained and placed up to the highest level in
dressage (advanced),
this Anglo-Trakehner is a top stallion in every aspect.
Michelangelo is one of
the most influential sires of the Trakehner breed in our time.
In 2000 and 2001
he was the leading sire in a ranking regarding the inspection
scores of
registered daughters. Athleticism and nobility in combination
with other
dominant traits such as type, distinguished conformation, and
brilliant
movement in all three gaits are the main characteristics of
Michelangelo's
offspring, ensuring them a great future in competition as well
as breeding.

And a quote from a
Swedish WB breeder from Sweden
<<Your
mare has a Swedish motherline. Magnat was Swedish and his father
Barbarossa has one of the best stallions as his father, Novarro. An old
Swedish breeder once said to me, if you have Novarro anywhere in the
pedigree then it is a very good horse.>>
Dansk
Varmblod (the Danish Warmblood Society) has, for generations, been
breeding sport horses of international standard and reputation. Even
prior to formation of the Society's breeding standards program in
the 1960's, Danish breeders had registered the country's bloodlines
in a succession of horse Board stud books, dating as far back as
1894. During the last 35 years the Society's breeding program have
been focused on developing world-class bloodlines especially suited
for dressage and jumping competition. A foundation stallion of the
Spanish Riding School of Vienna's Lippizaner line was a Danish
stallion named Pluto. The recent prevalence and success of Danish
Warmbloods in international Grand Prix and Olympic events attest to
the success of Dansk Varmblod's strict grading and breeding
policies.
Building on a foundation of Danish-bred horses used for work,
military use and in the Royal Stables, Dansk Varmblod have
introduced bloodlines of Holstein, Hanoverian, Trakehner and
thoroughbred origin from Germany, Sweden, Poland, Holland and
England into 3 distinct studbooks: "DS" for the majority
of graded animals, "DH", containing the better-scoring
mares & stallions, (Alino Queen's designation) and "EDH" containing the
highest-scoring "elite" mares & stallions. Mare and
stallion gradings are held annually, where new candidates for the
stud books are subject to stringent grading for movement,
temperament, and conformation, (including OCD-negative
verification), both loose and under saddle.
Danish Warmbloods form part of the Danish, German, Swiss, British,
Norwegian, Italian and Australian national and international teams
in dressage, show jumping and eventing. It is interesting to note
that many standing Danish stallions remain international
competitors, and Dansk Varmblod requires that a stallion or his
progeny compete successfully in international competition in order
to retain their breeding license.
